Mini Blog Meet

For those of you attending the mini blog meet on October 3rd we will be meeting down at the Lighthouse Beach Park on Highway 35 next to the causeway here in Port L. The price of the gate fee is $3.00 a car to enter. The park has a nice covered pavilion to sit under. Bring a lawn chair if you don't want to sit on a picnic bench.
If you are coming from the Houston area take 59 south to Ganado. Take the 172 exit. This will take you to hwy 35 (about 35 miles. You will merge from 172 to hwy 35. Make sure you look for on coming cars, there have been many wrecks at this area do to people not watching for others. Hwy 35 will take you into Point Comfort, stay in the left lane. Also, drive the speed limit through Point Comfort and once you're off the cause way. The cops are bad!
Once you're off the cause way you need to be in the left hand lane. You will come to a red light. You will turn left at this light. You will see the old light house, swimming pool, and the Community center. You will see the entrance to the park on the curve.
For those of you coming from hwy 87, you will come to a light at Bucees. You need to be in the left hand lane so you can turn onto hwy 35. You will go through town, past the Walgreen's, HEB, Wal Mart, and many motels. You will turn right at the last light next to the community center. Make sure you don't run any lights here in town. They have cameras on them and I would hate for any of my friends to get a ticket.
