We have state testing starting today through Friday. I'm testing today and tomorrow. I have to say I rather have a root canal than test. Here is an example of how a testing day goes....
Pick up your bucket with tests booklets check off the students in your class to make sure test booklets match the the child's id number.
Go to your testing area.
Place bubble sheet on a desk along with two pencils, a bottle of water, and a package of water.
Have kids come in and have them sit in their assigned desk.
School announcements.
Take up cell phones.
Read the instructions to the students.
Watch the child take the test.
Walk around the room.
Watch the child take their test.
Walk around the room.
Count the tiles on the floor.
Watch the child take their test.
Count the tiles on the ceiling.
Watch the child take their test.
Walk around the room.
You have to watch the kids at all times to make sure they don't cheat. You have to walk them to the lunch room and back to make sure they don't talk about the test. They have people assigned to watch them in lunch to make sure they don't talk about the test and monitors in the bathroom to make sure they don't talk about it in the bathroom. Such a waste of time and I would love nothing more than to do away with state testing.

I helped monitor tests one year when I was back in my home town. It was boring. We didn't get to throw any kids out or anything fun like that at all.
Wouldn't be easier to just duct tape the kid's mouths so they couldn't talk and cheat?
I can't figure out why they won't let kids read a book during breaks - during the MATH TAKS? Percy Jackson must be harboring some math formulas or something.
